Q&A with Associate Director, Kevin Summerhays

Meet this Deloitte Private Associate Director in Wellington, who wouldn't mind learning the piano and believes life could be pretty great as a stay-at-home dad.

Where did you start out with Deloitte?

The Wakefield street office in Wellington. I joined the Tax & Private team along with the crew from Curtis McLean.

What would you be doing if you weren't with Deloitte?

I'd be a botanist or I’d be a stay-at-home dad. Hopefully somewhere awesome – Provence, Fernie (British Columbia), or Central Otago.

What's your favorite part of your role?

The excitement and energy of new ideas. I meet a lot of motivated people who are out there doing cool things and I enjoy helping them towards their goals.

What part is most challenging?

Dealing with the rage caused by photocopier paper jams. This emotional state intensifies the subsequent maze of levers, paper cuts and secret doors!

What makes Deloitte a great firm to work with?

The fantastic people that work at Deloitte make it great.

What do you do in your spare time?

I don't have much spare time but when I do I love a game of golf.

What new skill do you want to learn this year?

Piano. It is challenging but also a relaxing way to unwind. At work, I am excited to be learning more about how SMEs can improve by including sustainability into their strategy and business.

Finish this sentence: The one piece of wisdom I want to impart to clients is… do something you love, and do it better than everyone else.
