Q&A with Mark Talbot - Deloitte Private Partner

Did you know that Deloitte Private partner, Mark Talbot, used to live in Bermuda? See what other interesting and exciting facts we found out about this innovative partner.

How did you come to be at Deloitte?

The short version; over a beer with Darren Johnson! The long version; from the UK, via six years in Bermuda, and after running my own vCFO business, Diablo Management.

What is your role and who are you working most closely with on a daily basis?

I’m a partner within Deloitte Private, working with the team at Deloitte Takapuna, providing outsourced accounting and virtual CFO services to early-stage, growth companies.

What's the most satisfying part of your role?

Meeting talented, passionate and driven entrepreneurs with incredible ideas and providing them with sound advice and support to increase the chances of their success.

In what areas are you looking to learn more or explore in 2016?

I’m incredibly excited about Deloitte Private Connect and further improving the way we deliver Deloitte Private services throughout the country.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I have an entrepreneurial wife and three children under the age of nine; it makes for a busy and fun time outside of work. My real passion is scuba-diving and I love to get on and under the water as much as I can.

If you weren't in this industry, what would you be doing?

I’d be back in Bermuda, teaching scuba-diving.

What's one of the the most memorable experiences you've had since being with Deloitte?

Probably the amazing restaurant we dined at in Wellington after the Deloitte Private conference last year. The food was sensational.

Mark is a Chartered Accountant working with start-up/high growth companies in New Zealand, many of whom operate in the technology sector.
