It’s been an exciting time for our Auckland Tax and Private team after joining forces with Lightning Lab to become a partner on their Auckland programme. Lightning Lab offers 12-week mentor intensive programmes, providing 10 digital startups with the skills and support to successfully build and launch their ideas into the marketplace. Teams are given access to a network of more than 100 mentors, interns and advisors from across New Zealand and around the globe.
The partnership comes after working closely with The Icehouse and GridAKL ecosystem which led to a conversation with Lightning Lab around ways we could be involved. Notably, our work with fast-growth businesses combined with our understanding of startup issues meant we were the right fit for a venture such as this.
In the first month of the programme, teams are immersed in mentorship, learn to identify their customer and create a minimum viable product. During the second month, teams spend most of their time validating MVP prototypes in the market while building their story and proof points for the investor presentation at Demo Day. In month three, teams prepare for Demo Day while squeezing out as much traction/revenue in the market as possible.
The Deloitte Private team will be providing virtual advisory services to each of the Lightning Lab’s entities to assist them in gaining the most out of the acceleration journey while helping them raise a substantial amount of capital. So far, we have already been involved in many diverse conversations on strategy, business processes, market validation and user experience.
Our super Lightning Lab team is led by Darren White, Darren Johnson, Bill Hale and Mark Talbot with the help of Pippa Watson, Tess Otineru, Robyn Voigt, Amanda Lee, Aliksha Channa and Jason Yang.
