Building a tech community

The annual Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific index was announced just before Christmas. We performed particularly well this year with 51 kiwi tech companies making the list and twelve reaching the top 100.

Our Wellington and Auckland offices recently hosted the local winners to celebrate their success, network and share their experiences from 2014.

With 31 of the New Zealand Tech 500 tech companies based in Auckland upper north to central North Island regions our Auckland office hosted the local winners to revel in their success.

Darren Johnson and Mark Talbot hosted a panel of tech entrepreneurs Seeby Woodhouse of Voyager Internet, Nick Houldsworth of Vend and Barnaby Marshall of I love Ugly.

With all three companies operating unique business models, it made for a lively and compelling panel discussion.

Changing customer experience, strategic international growth, digital recognition, culture of growth and a shortage of skilled tech talent were a few of the key topics discussed on the night.

Wellington’s leading Tech entrepreneurs and influential business leaders recently gathered at our local office as we hosted Vend’s Michael "Koz" Koziarski.

Michael "Koz" Koziarski is a software engineer, coordinator of the Ruby on Rails open source project and an investor in a number of local start-ups. By day he runs the Wellington engineering office for rapidly growing cloud start up Vend.

Koz discussed how the Technology sector in New Zealand compares to the rest of the world and share his own experiences.

Both events were well attended – check out the pics on our Facebook page.

If you know a fast growing technology company who should enter the Tech 500 or the Fast 50 please email Claire Philp.

We love sharing success stories!
